Hello Internet!

Hi everyone! My name is Simone and I live in Connecticut with my husband, Christian and our two cats, Luna and Olive. We bought our very first house back in 2016 and we’re slowly making it ours. We’ve spent the last year and a half doing “un-pretty” updates and I’m chomping at the bit to get decorating! This blog is where I’ll be sharing the design process and some DIYs thrown into the mix.

So a little background on the house. It’s a ranch from the 1950s that the previous owners had turned into an adorable cottage, adding tons of great molding all over the place and wood shingles and a porch on the outside. She’s a cute, little thing coming in at just over 1,000 square feet with two bedrooms and one bath. In many ways this was not the house we were looking for but we couldn’t help but fall in love.

Isn’t she adorable? This isn’t a true before photo since right after we moved we put in a new porch since the old one was rotting. A main theme of this house was “everything can be fixed with duct tape”. We found a lot of it covering up all sorts of problems, including holes in the porch. Cue eye roll.

I’ll get into more of the obstacles we’ve faced in coming posts but in the meantime, let’s check out the rest of the house, shall we?

The Living Room

Also pictured: my husband, mere seconds before I made him rip off that terribly 90s mantle.

The Dining Room

That wainscotting!!

The Kitchen

This may look great to you but we actually despise this thing, more on that to come.

The Master Bedroom

The Bathroom

So. intense.

The Office (Second Bedroom)

See above.

So that is our lovely little home. I can’t wait to share what’s next!
